To perceive a country that goes beyond achieving food self-sufficiency and be able to supply quality raw materials to local industries, as raw material, and export competitive products to the world market,as a result of the availabilityand use of yield enhancing high quality agricultural inputs to the farming community in a dependable and sustainable manner. 

       

 Support the national goal of increasing agricultural production and productivity by establishing a dependable and sustainable agricultural input supply system; Building the capacity of those engaged in the sub sector , facilitatingthe conditions by whichinputs reach farmers at required places, at the right time , quantity,quality and reasonable prices.

The objective of the Authority is to ensure that the production, supply, distribution and marketing of agricultural inputs is undertaken in efficient and effective manner, and capacity is built in the sector to benefit producers and the user community.

   The Authority in order to accomplish it’s objectives is empowered

     and   is responsible to:

•            Formulate agricultural input policy and strategy based on the national rural development policies and strategies, and upon approval, follow up the implementation thereof;

•          Effect the implementation of agricultural input laws by establishing links with appropriate institutions;

•              Issue guidelines and procedures for agricultural input evaluation and release, monitor their implementation;

•               Issue guidelines and procedures for the proper formulation and preparation of agricultural inputs programs and projects in line with the development requirement of the country;

•               Without prejudice to relevant laws, issue import and export permit for agricultural inputs;  

•                Ensure the distribution of high quality agricultural inputs to users;

•              Provide the necessary assistance with respect to market and demand forecast studies in order to enhance the development of the agricultural input industry thereof;

•               Undertake studies and submit recommendations to the government to take the necessary actions to stabilize the price of agricultural inputs;

•                Make the necessary support in capacity building in production; supply; distribution and marketing of agricultural inputs;

•         Promote proper public awareness to enhance the growth and development of the    agricultural input industry;

•               Encourage the private sector to actively participate in the production and distribution of agricultural inputs;

•              Facilitate and ensure; in cooperation with the relevant organizations; the supply and availability of agricultural inputs to help cover shortages;

•           Establish a central agricultural input data and information system;

•    Collect fees for services rendered as per   

                     developed guideline.
