a.       Quality Control and Certification Department

 

  • After a thorough investigation , issue permits for import and export requests of agricultural inputs; issue competence certificates to those who apply to engage in agricultural input businesses;
  • Carry out inspection on seed multiplication fields of public as well as private farms whether the activities are performed as per the requirements for a quality seed production.The field inspection begin with activities of field preparations,proceed to sowing,flowering stage,pest control, cultural practices and finally harvest of the crops and processing of the seeds.
  • Carry out laboratory tests on samples collected.The tests include purity, moisture content ,germination and seed health.The test results shall be issued to sample owners and the department acts as per the results.
  • Carry out fertilizer inspection starting from the moment that it has enteredcentral ware houses.Samples shall be collected from warehouses of public as well as private holdings and submitted to quality and standards authority of Ethiopia.The department is expected to react according to the results on the tests.
  • Effect release and registration of new varities that have met the criteria set;
  • Insure the distribution of high quality agricultural inputs to users.

b.                   Planning and Programming Department

 

·        Preparation, and compilation of plans and budgets and forwarding them to those concerned;

·        Monito the activities of departments and services whether they are in accordance with the plan and budget;

 

·        Evaluate the implementation of development activities in the head office as well as in the field;

 

·        Close follow up with project concepts relate to agricultural inputs and coordinate their formulations;

·        Together with those concerned ,formulate and present policy ideas that support agricultural inputs.

           c.     Marketing Department

·     Follow up national and international agricultural input prices and marketing;

·        Forcast next season's demand of agricultural inputs;

·        Collect agricultural input demand of regions and relate to the forcasts;

·        Follow up of agricultural input Sales, distribution and general trade;

·      Render advisory services to investors engaged in agricultural input

trade and distribution.
